The listing gives no maximum stake and no maximum win, so confirm those limits on the betslip and in the terms before you place a large bet.

A multi bet pays only if every leg wins, so adding legs to chase a bigger boost also lowers your chance of a return. Moneyweb reported from the group's investor day that two thirds of the amount wagered in Betway's African markets goes on multi bets, and that football is about 94 percent of its African sports betting.

Early Cash Out, Win Boost and Book-a-Bet

Early Cash Out is described as a way to take a payout on a bet before it is settled, which gives you more control over open bets. The listing does not say which bets qualify, whether you can cash out part of a bet, or how the offer is priced. Check for the Cash Out button on the bet itself before you plan around it.

Win Boost adds to the winnings of a multi bet for each leg you add. The listing says the boost can reach 150 percent and grows with the number of legs, and it gives no conditions. We have not read the terms, so treat the figure as the most it can be, not what you will get.

Book-a-Bet lets you share a betslip with friends through WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, SMS or email. It is a convenience for groups, and it does not change the odds or the stake. The listing also mentions a lottery-style numbers product and fixed draws, which this guide does not cover.

On the App Store, 274,001 people have rated it, for an average of 4.5 out of 5. Those are ratings of the app, not of payout speed or customer service, and the figure moves every day. The listing describes an app built to make finding a game and placing a bet simple, with immediate match resulting.

This review covers the iOS listing. We did not confirm an official Android listing for South Africa, and an Android app that carries the Betway name for another country is a different product. Take any Android install link only from Betway's own site, and check the publisher name before you install anything.

The listing promises 24/7 support through Live Chat, WhatsApp, phone calls, email, Facebook and Twitter. It gives no phone number or WhatsApp number, so take those from Betway's own site.

We did not test response times and cannot say how quickly an answer arrives. For a withdrawal or verification query, live chat or email leaves a written record you can keep if you later need to take a complaint to the provincial board.

Registration, FICA and verification

The listing does not describe how registration and identity checks work, and we did not read Betway's sign-up pages. The company behind Betway

Super Group's website describes Betway as a single global sportsbook brand, established in 2006, live across Europe, the Americas and Africa, and lists Betway Africa among the companies of Super Group Africa. Super Group is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Moneyweb reports that the group acquired Betway in 2010 and that Betway launched in South Africa in 2017.

Betway is also a title sponsor in South African sport. The Premier Soccer League announced Betway as title sponsor of its premier division, now called the Betway Premiership, and the same page names the Betway SA20 cricket league and the Springboks among its partnerships. A sponsorship shows where a company spends on marketing. It says nothing about how it treats customers.

Moneyweb also reports from the investor day that most of the group's African revenue now comes from products other than sports betting. This guide covers sports betting only, in line with the Advertising Regulatory Board's code, which treats online sports betting as legal and online gambling as illegal.

Licence and who holds it

The App Store listing says Raging River Trading (Pty) Ltd, registration 2011/134505/07, trading as Betway South Africa, is licensed and regulated by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. The National Gambling Board's Verified Operators list shows the same company at Waterview Park in Century City under licence 10181496-012, and the Western Cape board's licence-holder list names Raging River Trading (Pty) Ltd.

The listing quotes bookmaker licence number 10181496-005, which differs from the number on the national list in its last three digits. The first eight digits are the same, and the key facts show the number from the official list. To be sure which ending is current, ask Betway support or the provincial board.

The national list also carries a Mpumalanga entry for Betway, shared with another Super Group brand, under licence 9-2-1-09658. Our registry holds it as a separate row. A bookmaker can hold licences in more than one province, and the Western Cape licence is the one the app listing names.
