Check a South African bookmaker before you bet

In South Africa, bookmakers are licensed by the provincial gambling boards. We bring those official lists together in one place, show where every entry came from, and point you to the board so you can confirm it yourself.

Search the bookmaker registry

Lists read on 3 Oct 2026. Not every board publishes a list, and we say which ones do not.

Check a bookmaker in three steps

  1. Look for the licence on their site. A licensed online bookmaker shows its licensing information on the home page of its website or app.
  2. Search the registry here. Type the name or licence number. If it is there, you will see the province and the official list it came from.
  3. Confirm with the board. Open the National Gambling Board Verified Operators list or the board for the province in the licence.

What the law says

The National Gambling Board says online betting is legal when you do it with a licensed South African bookmaker, and that you must be 18 or older.
